the things you missed while you were away. (P.S Currently craving Pop Tarts)

I've been to Alton Towers with some school friends, we managed to do most things, but I left the map reading to them, it's not exactly a skill I'm blessed with....(We ARE taking the Satnav to York)

I had my prom, it was lovely, but slightly strange to see everyone dressed up...

Photobucket

I went to go and see YFriday, a pretty good christian band, but what was cooler was that they were playing in the circuit I used to belong too, it was great to see lots of old friends!

Photobucket

And lastly, probably my largest acomplishment, was that I baked a cake for my little sisters presentation evening. It was my first attempt so I was pretty pleased with the results!

For the past couple of days I've been working and reading. This weekend I visited my best friend who lives just outside London, despite the uber long train journey it was great to see her :) I also have something very exciting to tell you all about soon!

Do, do watch athis lush interview with Tim Walker, my favourite photographer. It's fascinating to find out about his beginnings archiving old Cecil Beaton negatives in the Vogue dungeons!

You can watch the interview here.

She killed him with kisses

I had to keep it secret because they were one of my mums birthday presents, but let me introduce you to Agatha (Christie) and Daphne (Du Maurier), our latest editions to the Pengelly menagerie!
I hope you didn't mind the lack of posting in the last couple of days, I've been Coup building with my Dad! Hard work in all this heat. Now I have more of a chance to enjoy the sun, I'm sat outside with a cup of tea, Sophies' World and my diary (booo).

Peaceful protests must not be met with violence

Photobucket

Ok everybody, here is my fourth Random Act of Kindness, and one that I'm going to get you all to do. I'm sure you are aware of the truely horrific political situation in Iran and of the courageous bravery of the pretestors who continue to practice their right to peacefully protest. Because of this bravery, people are now dying, Iranian state media has reported that at least 475 people have been arrested and 21 killed during post-election clashes. However the actual figures may well be much higher.Security forces have used tear gas, water cannons and beaten protesters with truncheons, this is wrong. I'm a member of Amnesty International, and a christian, so I'm one of those annoying people that thinks they have a responsibility to change things, (you should too! Join here.) It's blindingly obvious that what is going on with the elections in Iran is wrong, in this small way, we can try and show the Iranian government that we are watching them too :)
Please let the people protesting know that they are not alone as the Iranian authorities are attempting to suppress information by blocking websites and severely restricting foreign media, follow this link, and send an email to Mr Rasoul Movahedian - Iranian ambassador in the UK

Anyway, in other, more cheerful news, I went to visit all my family and friends in Devon this weekend! Unfortuantely, I underestimated the power of the sun and got very, very burnt.....but not as burnt as my dad! (Who's legs now resemble lobsters) On the first day we went to a beach in South Milton with my parents' Godson Richard, and his family. This is Megan and Kathryn rock-pooling, they (I say they, it was megan) decided to do a bit of a modelling shoot..... And the Beach was looked after by a lovely, romantic Gay couple who put inspiring messages on the chalkboards each morning!

Yesterday we went with my Grandma to Dartmouth to have lunch and potter around, Dartmouth is a feast for the eyes, with cute sailing shops and really, really good Ice Cream :D
Unfortunately, a certain 16yrold was unable to eat the Ice Cream without getting it all down her!

michael jackson scream janet Pictures, Images and Photos

One of my earliest memories is my Mum teaching me the actions to 'Blame it on the boogie', despite his flaws, he was an amazing man.

no.10 and no.110

I had alot of time to kill waiting for trains this morning, and so looked for a victim to carry out a couple of Random Acts Of Kindness on....

The 'old man' was Tom, and he was on his way to Cleethorpes to visit family, he really couldn't understand why this 16yr old was so interested in what he was doing there, but I hope he appreciated my Guardian insert (like any good Liberal would ;) )
We shared Danishes in the sun, it was lovely.

Really sorry to hear about Michael Jackson last night, although I hope where-ever he's gone he'll probably be better off, I don't think he had a brilliant quality of life when he was alive. We need to learn to not exploit children like he was, and effectively, ruin their lives.

An HOURS wait in Retford dragged on...and on...

Has anyone else done any Random Acts Of Kindness recently? Do share!
Well done on getting into the National Youth Theatre Thissy!

PS - As from tommorow, Live blogging from Devon! I'm visiting family down there.....

I will rectify, if this will last forever.

No.45

One down, 99 to go....
Flicking through my book, I decided I quite fancied going outside, and stumbled across the 'Free Box Act'.

Photobucket

The Box contained:
  • Seven Books
  • Two Pairs of sunglasses (UV protection is greatly needed this time of year...)
  • Spongebob SquarePants Sippy Cup
  • Chocolates
  • Sweets
  • Biscuits
  • Keyrings
  • Ipod Sock
  • Magazines

So off I trundled, into deepest darkest Worksop with my box of free stuff, getting a few VERY strange looks as I walked from my house to the bench. Checking there was no-one around, I quickly shoved the box on the bench, took a few photos and quickly proceeded toward home. One person who saw me passing him with the box gave me a look on my way back as if to say 'Have you been mugged or something' - but my grin confused him. It really is a good feeling!

From Coast to Coast, from Sea to shining Sea....

I went to my friends' Kieras' leaving party, it was fancy dress, and the highlight was definately Jack and Gareth who decided to come as strippograms...( I hear a far amount of fake tan was used...)

I stripped my entire bedroom in order to redecorate it, with a little help from some friends....I've finished redecorating now, so more pictures to follow.....

In other more important news, I have found a basis for my project his summer, I don't know if any of you have heard of Danny Wallace? But if you've seen YES man, then you probably will have. Danny Wallace and his Karma Army simply want to make the world a better place - (int it nice folks!). A friend gave me his book 365 Acts to make the world a better place for my Birthday, and I basically haven't looked at it since. So this summer, I will attempt to do 100 or so 'Random Acts of Kindness' - and photograph them all for your viewing pleasure (Y). I'm doing my first one this afternoon...wish me luck!

“Our biggest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our biggest fear is that we are powerful beyond measureIt is our light, not our darkness that scares us the most.We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine,we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

And so it begins..

Welcome to my summer blog! I've now finished all my eighteen exams, a very good feeling, I'm sure many of you will also feel, and I now have eleven or so glorious weeks of nothingness at my disposal. Because I'm already fidgiting at the prospect of becoming lazy, I have started a list of things I wish to accomplish and or do over this summer :)

This blog will most probably manifest itself by turning into a lethargic diary of ramblings, but please bear with me!

So, a few things about me? My name is Grace Pengelly, I am a sixteen year old human rights enthusiast, clothes hag, methodist ministers daughter, sci-fi movie buff, thinker, girlfriend, Barista, reader and coffee drinker. Oh, and I have a little addiction to Post Secret. (http://postsecret.blogspot.com/)

List soon to follow!

Let me introduce you to Kina Grannis, she truely is nourishment for the soul......
